We have been emancipated. We have been set free. The Lord has set us free from our nature and the captivity of the earth. There is no salvation outside Jesus, there is no other blood that will be shed that has not been shed, and there is nothing else that will change our nature that hasn’t already been done. So we are embracing the blood of Jesus, the life in the Spirit.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Usually we quote that scripture for those who have sinned and need to purge their conscience. However, what it’s actually saying is that, if you walk in the spirit, no condemnation will come to you. The Lord is changing us from flesh to Spirit. God has a desire for us; His desire is that we walk in the Spirit. Usually we allow the old man to govern us, to tell us a lie and we allow him to dictate what we are supposed to be.
But I say, live by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.
The background of Galatians is about people who took their gaze off spiritual things and set it on the carnal. What really matters to God is the quality of my inner life, the quality of what I am becoming, and my journey on earth towards him.
If you offer your life internally to God, everything you offer on the external will be pleasing to him. But if everything with you is external, you will not please God. What makes you perfect is how you offer your heart to God.
I pray the quality of our inner life will he excellent before God. We will not be children tossed to and fro, but we would walk worthy of the Lord. The flesh lusts against the spirit. If you mind the things of the flesh, it would hold your mind and you would be offended at the Lord. Take your tent and relocate into the spirit. The flesh will not give you anything of God.
Sometimes we give excuses that we do not have the strength to obey God, if your strength is sufficient to save you then Jesus did not need to die. When you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law, no longer under Do’s and Don’ts.
You can put Gal 5:23 side by side with Romans 8:1, ‘against such there is no law’, if you walk in the spirit – unto Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, there is no condemnation against you. If you do wrong against your brother and you are not cautioned, then your conscience is being seared.
Cain was told ‘sin lies at your door’. When you notice sin at your door, deal with it immediately. Don’t allow it to take hold of you. There is something called the law of sin and death. Sin opens the door for death. When sin takes hold of you the Holy Spirit checks out.
There is an invitation for you to live in the spirit. When you hear His voice, don’t harden your heart. When he says shut that door, deal with it immediately. Don’t let the Lord come again and again for the same thing. You’ll be searing your conscience. If you don’t live in the spirit, you will live in death. That is the alternative world, live in the spirit or live in death.
